Gopal Bose Height, Age, Net Worth, House, Affairs, Biography

Gopal Bose an old-fashioned opener who relied on technique and temperament, lost out in the race to become Sunil Gavaskar’s opening partner. Though he did not make big runs like most of his rivals, Bose was a more than proficient off-spinner. While his 3,757 runs came at 30.79, his 72 wickets cost only 26.79 apiece.

A talent at university level, Bose was noticed when he scored 113 against a South Zone attack consisting of EAS Prasanna, Bhagwath Chandrasekhar, and S Venkataraghavan in 1970-71, and shot to fame with 170 in Irani Trophy 1973-74 against a strong Bombay attack.
Selected for a tour of Sri Lanka that followed, he scored 104 in an unofficial ‘Test,’ adding 194 with Gavaskar. He made it to the ‘Summer of 42’ tour to England in 1974, but got to play only a solitary ODI: he scored 13 and got the wicket of David Lloyd, conceding 39 from 11 overs. He never played international cricket again. Bose later became a columnist and coach. He was manager of Virat Kohli’s side that won the Under-19 World Cup. His son Arijit scored a hundred on First-Class debut.
